[Current Mood | INEXPLICABLY GOOD]
[Current Music |Debussy - La cathédrale engloutie]

GUYS. I am in a really good mood today, and I have no idea why. I mean, it's not like anything bad has happened to me that means I should be sad, but seriously, there is no reason for me to be this upbeat. Which one of you drugged me? Because I like it!

I want to make it known that Pascal Rogé's interpretation of the tempo in Clair de lune gives the distinct impression that he is slipping into a coma at the piano. Like, I know that if I'd heard his version of it first, I'd think the other one I've heard (which, by the way, I have no idea who played; I picked up the mp3 on the sparsely-labeled down-low years ago, so I was just glad it didn't say it was composed by Bob Dylan. Plus, I don't actually have it on my computer anymore since I lost most of my music when my hard drive crashed, so THERE'S NO WAY FOR ME TO DO RESEARCH!) was freakishly overcaffeinated and all, but... c'mon, P-Rog! Dunk your head in cold water and show some whimsy! 8|

Oh, but in other Pascal Rogé news, I found out that the sparsely-labeled mp3s of Cloches à travers les feuilles and Et la lune descend sur le temple qui fut I found myself with years ago were his versions! (So at least he plays those ones right!)

Also, I... kind of have a crush on Rahm Emanuel. :x (Granted, he's basically a swarthy, Jewish Tim Roth who volunteers with the IDF and mails people dead fish instead of making increasingly questionable decisions in the film industry, so it was probably always only a matter of time.)

Hmmmm, dunno if you'll like it, but... I prefer Clair de lune with an emphasis on violin?

It really feels... sharper.

Oh, that's lovely. :o~

...ALSO, IT HAS A REASONABLE TEMPO. I AM HAPPY TO ACCEPT THIS NEW VERSION, BECAUSE IT REINFORCES MY EXISTING BIAS.

You'd probably like Ravel's Gaspard de la Nuit, and perhaps Pour le piano and Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, the latter two by Debussy. Don't know if you've heard any of those, but they're favorites of mine.

Ooh, I'll have to check those out! (Pour le piano I have, but his piano works are really all I have, so I'm sure I'm missing out on some good stuff.) :D

Nocturnes for orchestra is (are?) fantastic as well, especially the third movement (Fêtes). That's Debussy. Oh, Ravel's Tombeau de Couperin is another impressionist staple, both the piano and orchestral versions (the orchestral version omits the Menuet and the Toccata).

his piano works are all you have?! So sad- you need to pick up recordings of his vocal music. Or just let me sing them at you. He's SO the man.

Damnit! I knew I left my drugs at your place.

Rahm Emanuel is sexy. When I was reporting at the Oklahoma Democratic Watch Party, there was this guy that I kept staring at all night because he looked so familiar to me. He kept noticing me looking at him, and then I was like, "Son of a bitch! He's going to think I have a crush on him!"
BUT I COULDN'T STOP LOOKING BECAUSE I NEEDED TO KNOW.

I eventually asked him if I knew him and I found out I didn't, so I was really annoyed because I still couldn't place him and HE STILL THOUGHT I WAS HITTING ON HIM.

And then I figured out that he looked like Rahm Emanuel.

... and that's my story.
